As summer starts to wind down, over at the Animal Shelter we are just seeing things continue to speed up. Thanks to our generous donors, avid volunteers, and motivated staff, plans to build a new leading animal welfare campus for this community and region are getting closer and closer to being a reality. Here are a few of our “top-line” areas of progress in the last few months:
We continue to meet our fundraising milestones to keep the project on track, receiving more than $9.8 million in pledges and gifts to date! The next milestone is $10 million by the end of this year in order to ensure we’ll be able to meet the goal of breaking ground when the snow melts next spring 2017. Staff and campaign volunteers are busy meeting individually with major donors to go over the facility plans in detail and discuss naming opportunities. Please see the donor honor roll
and naming opportunities enclosed for more details and contact us if you’re interested in a personal meeting.
We are working with our architecture and building team to complete the Blaine County Planning & Zoning Conditional Use Permit process which is required in advance of receiving a building permit. We’ve had productive meetings with County staff and are looking forward to the public hearings mid-autumn. In the meantime, the civil, mechanical, and
electrical engineers are working diligently to develop the inner-workings and infrastructure for the facility.
We are so grateful to you for your support of and interest in this ground-breaking effort to save more animals’ lives and be a beacon for best-practices in animal welfare. Thank you for spreading the word about the Shelter’s mission, and as always, feel free to call or email me if you have any questions about this project or the Shelter’s work on behalf of people and pets.
